What is DNS propagation?
When you change a DNS record, the new value has to reach resolvers all over the world before every visitor sees it. That spread is called propagation. This tool queries several public resolvers at once and shows you what each one currently returns, so you can see how far a change has travelled.
Why does DNS propagation take time?
Every record carries a TTL, or time to live, that tells resolvers how long they may cache the old answer before asking again. Until each cached copy expires, some resolvers keep handing out the previous value. A record with a TTL of one hour can therefore take up to an hour to propagate everywhere. Lowering the TTL before a planned change shortens that window.
Why do different resolvers show different answers?
Because each resolver caches independently and expires its copy at its own pace. During a change one resolver may already serve the new record while another still serves the old one. When the resolvers below disagree, your change is still propagating. Once they all agree, propagation is complete.
