How does this check work?
When you look up a site, we verify it from Sentinel's monitoring network, not from a single computer. Requests go out from multiple regions around the world, so a routing problem or outage in one part of the internet does not produce a false answer. If the site responds to our checkers, it is up; if none of our regions can reach it, it is down for everyone.
Why can a site be down only for me?
Plenty of failures are local: your DNS cache holding a stale record, your ISP having a routing issue, a VPN or firewall blocking the site, or your browser cache serving a broken page. If our network can reach the site but you cannot, try another network or device, flush your DNS cache, or disable your VPN before assuming the site itself is broken.
